(based on 2 user ratings) EDITOR REVIEW: DOWNTOWN. Once owned by Edward Rutledge, former governor of SC and a signer of the Declaration of Independence, the inn opened in 1998. It fast became one of the best places to stay while visiting Charleston. Elegantly appointed rooms, common areas, and sweeping verandas are accompanied by discerning Southern hospitality and charm. The majestic former Governor's mansion turned inn is filled with antiques, fantastic verandas on the first and second floors, and off-street parking at no extra charge.
